April Beauty Favorites

April is over! I'm so happy to finally see sunshine and flowers blooming when I wake up every morning; Spring is such a happy and beautiful time of year, and I can't wait to make new memories with my friends and family this summer. Half of my  favorites for this past month are oldies but goodies, the other half are fairly new additions to my collection that I've recently fallen in love with, and (hell yeah) most of these products can be found at the drug store! Continue reading to see my top picks for April!

1. Maybelline Color Elixir in "Pearlescent Peach" 550

I'm kind of the worst when it comes to spontaneously buying lip glosses every time I pop into the grocery store. They're just there, and there's so many of them-I can't stop myself. So needless to say, I bought this on a whim in further pursuit of finding the perfect coral lip color for spring and summer, and I'm pretty freaking satisfied with this one. For one thing, the applicator is a really unique and cute little flat doe-foot that fits your lips perfectly, which I love. The consistency is super glossy but not incredibly sticky, and the color is pigmented without looking too orange or too pink. Watch out world, I'm about to buy all the Color Elixirs.

2. Beauty Blender

Oh, the Beauty Blender; an oldie but a goodie. I mentioned this a while ago in my Current Brush Favorites post back in September, but I've been using this thing like crazy lately because it does the perfect job of blending out liquid foundation and concealer for an absolutely flawless base. If you've yet to hear about these little babies, you have to dampen or wet them before using them to apply or blend out your makeup-using a dry Beauty Blender is the equivalent of brushing your teeth without using water; you can do it, but why in the world would you? Anyways, these little guys are serious game changer. Hop on this band wagon, you won't be sorry.

3. Milani Baked Blush in "Luminoso" 05

I'm slightly ashamed to admit that this is my first and only Milani purchase, but holy hell I'm obsessed with this product. I've heard so many good things about Milani's baked blushes, and now I can honestly say that they're 100% worth the hype. I bought this less than a week ago but I've worn it every single day since then, which is kind of  a big deal for me. This was the highest recommended Milani product on the MUA thread I found on Reddit, and I can definitely see why it's such a cult favorite. It's basically a combination of a blush and a bronzy highlighter, and it does wonders for livening up your complexion when applied to the apples of your cheeks. I have it swatched down below, but the picture really doesn't do it justice. It's sheeny, but not glittery, which is absolutely perfect for achieving that gorgeous summer glow in the months to come.

4. realTechniques Sculpting Brush

It has recently become a life goal of mine to possess every realTechniques brush known to man, and I got one step closer to crossing that off my bucket list when I bought this brush last week. I haven't owned it long, but I've used it enough to know that my bronzing and contouring routines have been super simplified. The shape, arrangement, and density of the bristles are perfect for defining the hollows of your cheeks, which really sets this brush apart from all the others I've attempted to use for contouring. It also doesn't hurt that it's pink, just sayin'.

5. Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer

I've had this little guy longer than I've owned a vast majority of the rest of my makeup collection, but I haven't used it a super long time until recently. As per usual, my skin has decided to declare war against my happiness and overall self-esteem due to my ~*tImE oF tHe mOnTh*~, and using concealer alone just wasn't doing the trick this time. Once I started using this before applying concealer and foundation on top of it, however, my blemishes lose virtually all traces of redness and inflammation. Some basic explanation for the artistically illiterate (AKA me): green and red are direct opposites from one another on the color wheel, therefore they help to cancel each other out. So, putting a green tinted product on top of a red and nasty zit greatly reduces it's disgusting appearance. The more you know!

6. Pacifica "Tahitian Gardenia" Perfume

My ultimate favorite thing this past month is this perfume from Pacifica. I received it in an Ipsy bag about two years ago, and I've been in love with it ever since. If I were pretentious/cool enough to seriously use the term "signature scent", I would have to say that this scent would be my signature fragrance for Spring. It's incredibly fresh and clean, and it smells just like honeysuckle without being too sweet or overwhelming. Plus, the packaging is gorgeous and is perfect for traveling, which is why this is always my go-to Summer vacation scent! It's sold at Target, Ulta, and online, so I'm super happy that I can immediately and easily repurchase it the minute I run out.
