Summer Skin Staples

Sweet, sweet summer time. The sun is shining, the pools are glistening, and my skin is most likely actin' a fool. On most days, my skin feels slippery and greasy (or just straight up gross), and all I want is to have nice looking makeup without feeling like my face is melting off. Is that too much to ask? I've done some research, and I've found some of the best products out there for keeping your makeup melt and shine free. Keep reading to see my top picks for achieving flawless summer skin!

1. Lancôme Miracle Cushion Liquid Foundation

As much as I don't need another foundation, this stuff has seriously peaked my interest lately. According to reviews online, the formula is super weightless and textureless, which is exactly what I want from a summer foundation. Plus, it's really easy to apply depending on the amount of coverage you want on any given day because you just tap the cushion with your fingers or a brush to get the product out. I definitely see myself trying this stuff out in the very near future!

2. Neutrogena Shine Control Primer

I love, love, love my Benefit POREfessional primer, but I seriously can't wait to try this one from Neutrogena. As great as the POREfessional is for minimizing the appearance of pores and keeping my makeup last, it doesn't really do much for keeping oiliness at bay. I've read some great reviews for this product, and it apparently works wonders for achieving a matte complexion that lasts the whole day. Long story short, I need this. The end.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick

I raved about this product in my Morning Makeup Staples post a few months back, and I'm seriously starting to experience withdrawals now that I've run out. The center of this foundation stick is made of powder, so this stuff is pretty much guaranteed to stay put and keep your face shine free all day long. This is hands down the best oil diminishing foundation I've ever used, and I'm definitely adding this to my summer makeup shopping list (along with every other product in this post, yikes).

4. Clinique Stay Matte Oil-Free Foundation

This is another product I haven't tried, but like the first two products I mentioned above, the online reviews for this foundation are incredible, and it's pretty affordable ($23 at most places). I love that it comes in a tube rather than a jar, which makes it super easy to dispense and apply. I think this would be an amazing foundation for humid climates (I'm looking at you, Tennessee), especially when paired with a good primer!

5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation

It's been a while since I've used this product, but it really can't be beat for keeping oil and shine away from your face. I'm honestly not a huge mineral foundation fan, but there are days when this stuff just has to be used instead of liquid formulas, and for obvious reasons. If you use powder to set your foundation, you're essentially just taking out the middle man when you use mineral makeup. It only makes sense. (How's that for a product review, eh?) But seriously, I think the shade I have in this product is a little too dark, but I'll probably start using it like crazy once I get some more color in my complexion within the next few weeks!

6. Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream

While this product isn't targeted towards eliminating oil or shine, I really do love this BB cream for the simple fact that it feels so incredibly light on your face. It's also made with salicylic acid to help fight acne and breakouts, which is pretty much the best thing ever. I'm thinking that this would pair perfectly with the Neutrogena shine control primer I mentioned above, and I'm definitely going to try this combo out ASAP!

7. IT Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder SPF 50+

When I first started wearing makeup back in middle school, I was perfectly content with leaving my house just wearing powder on my face. Those days are long gone, but I definitely wish I still felt that comfortable with such a small amount of coverage. But, as much as I hate having oily skin, I also hate the feel of being too matte, if that makes sense. Basically, I don't want a greasy face, but I also don't want a cake face, ya feel me? Apparently this product works either as an extremely light foundation or as a setting powder, plus it has SPF 50, which is always a major plus.
