"I Woke Up Like This": Morning Makeup

Hey everyone! As you may or may not know, I've worked at an elementary school after school program for the past several years. I absolutely love my job, but one down side is that I have to open once a week, which means that I wake up at 5:00 in the morning in order to make it to work by 6:00. It's hellacious, but it's part of the job I guess. Getting ready for work at 5 AM is not fun, but I've come up with a simple, fast, and affordable makeup routine that allows me to get a few minutes worth of extra sleep without looking like a complete zombie afterwards. Best of all, every product listed is available at the drugstore, so it should be super easy to recreate this routine for yourself! Read below to see my early morning makeup staples!

1. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

I know I talk about this product all the time, but it is seriously a miracle worker at covering up dark circles, especially at 5 in the morning. I apply this in an upside down triangle shape under my eyes and blend outwards towards my temples, which immediately helps to make me look like I got way more sleep than I actually did. This stuff is 100% essential in my life.

2. Maybelline "The Falsies" Mascara

Really any mascara helps to open your eyes and makes you look more awake, but I really like how lengthening this formula and brush are together. Big eyes=awake eyes, and this mascara will definitely help you achieve that look.

3. NYC Sunny Bronzer

I have 4 to 5 bronzers that I rotate in my makeup collection, but this one is just so fuss-free and easy to use, which makes it perfect for early morning application. I definitely don't do a full-out contour, but this helps to add a natural hint of color and life to my complexion when I feel (and look) like the walking dead. Plus, it's incredibly affordable (somewhere around $2, I believe. Hello!) while also being a spot-on dupe for the Benefit Hoola bronzer!

4. Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Stick

Something about covering my face in a ton of liquid foundation before the sun is even up just seems incredibly unnatural to me, which is why this foundation stick from Maybelline is absolutely perfect for minimal makeup days. It has an inner core made out of powder, so those of you with oily skin (like me!) have one less step to worry about during your makeup routine. I put a line of this across my forehead, down my nose, draw 3 whiskery looking lines on each of my cheeks, and 2 short strokes on my chin, and then I blend everything out with a buffing brush. It's so easy!

5. NYX Wonder Pencil

This is the most recent addition to my early morning makeup routine, but I've been loving it so far! I use this to tight line my bottom lash line, and woah, immediate 8 hours of sleep results. This nude pencil really helps to brighten and open up your eyes without looking too obvious like white liners have a tendency to do. You can also use this pencil to cover up blemishes and highlight your cupids bow and eyebrows, so it's definitely a product worth trying out!

6. NYX Cream Blush in Natural

I've talked about this blush a few times already, but I've really fallen in love with it within the past few months. It adds such a natural and healthy looking flush to your cheeks without ever looking too dark or heavy, which is always something I'm weary of when applying any kind of blush. I use this with a stippling brush from RealTechniques and apply just a tiny amount to the apples of my cheeks, and it does an amazing job of livening up my early morning complexion.
