Mini Collective Haul #2

I went shopping and spent way too much money on Saturday, but I bought some really awesome and exciting things that I wanted to share with you! Most of these items are from Ulta and Barnes & Noble, and two of them are from a locally owned shop where I live. Keep reading to live vicariously through a shop-a-holic!

1. Rifle Paper Co. Planner

I bought it! Yesss! For any of you who read my Mid-Summer Wish-list post a few weeks back, you'll know how much I've been obsessing over this gorgeous planner from Rifle Paper Co.; I finally got it and I didn't have to pay for shipping & handling because I bought it in person at a local paper goods store. It was simply meant to be, and it's even more beautiful in person. Yesyesyes.

2. Too Faced "Born This Way" Foundation in "Ivory"

As it usually plays out, I had no intention of buying this when I popped into Ulta with my mom last Saturday afternoon. I hadn't even heard of this foundation, but there was a pretty display in between the Bare Minerals and Philosophy section of the store that caught my eye. I stood there for about 5 minutes just staring at all the different shade options before finally deciding that I should try it, and I'm glad I did! This is the first product I've ever used from Too Faced (shocker, right?), and I'm super impressed with it so far. More on this later, though. ;)

3. RealTechniques Setting Brush

I really didn't need this brush, but I'm kind of at the point now where I feel the need to purchase pretty much every brush that RealTechniques makes. It's a collection sort of thing, you know? I can't help it anymore. Anyways, I like using this brush to apply highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones and my nose. It's a good brush, therefore I'm totally justified in purchasing it. The end.

4. Illume Coconut Milk Mango Perfume

I have nothing to say about why I purchased this fragrance other than the fact that I was hypnotized into buying it because it smells like summer in a bottle. Specifically, it smells like a long day at beach followed by taking a much needed shower and lounging in an air-conditioned condo while drinking the world's most delicious Piña Colada and eating a sandwich (because there's nothing better than a sandwich after you've been swimming, in my opinion). Basically, this perfume just smells like a very relaxing vacation and my heart couldn't bear to go home without it in my purse.

5.Maybelline ColorBlur by LipStudio Cream Matte Pencil & Smudger in 50 "Like to Mauve It"

I admittedly bought this because of the cute packaging, but I actually really like the color and consistency of this product. It's a really pretty matte mauve color, and the finish on your lips is hydrating without being sticky but also matte without being draggy. I like that the shape of the product is a pencil, which makes it less intimidating to apply (big girl lipstick scares me a little, don't judge me), and the packaging is sturdy enough to carry around in my purse all day without the cap falling off. I think the smudger on the end is a bit gimmicky, and I probably won't get much use out of it, but overall I really like this lipstick.

6. No one belongs here more than you. Stories by Miranda July

I bought this after Estée recommended Miranda July's "The First Bad Man", but my Barnes & Noble was out of that book so I decided to purchase her short story collection instead. I'm about half-way through it right now, and I'm absolutely in love with her writing. It's so honest and raw and manages to be beautifully simple while still maintaining a complexity that really makes you think about every day things and people more deeply. I can't freaking wait until I can get my hands on "The First Bad Man" now, and part of me wants to slow down and take my time reading this collection but I'm on a roll and there's no stopping me now.

7. Not Your Mother's DéJà Vu'Do Style Extender

I hadn't heard anything about this hair product before I bought it, but a friend of mine is obsessed with the Not Your Mother's line, so I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to give it a try (plus the reviews on Ulta's website were pretty good, too). This style extender acts as a sort of primer for your hair, and claims to keep your hair from getting oily in between washes, which is something I could greatly benefit from. I've used it twice so far, and while I haven't noticed a difference in my hair yet, it at least smells really good, so I'm not complaining. We'll see how oily my hair is by tomorrow morning, though.

8. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

This was another item on my Mid-Summer Wish-list, and I was surprised to find it front and center of the Barnes & Noble store on Saturday. I wasn't aware that this was currently the number one New York Times Best Seller, but now I'm even more excited to start reading it because it has to be good! I keep trying to make plans with my best friend to get her to come over and help me "purge my life" ( AKA "get rid of a ton of shit I don't need"), so I'm really looking forward to putting Marie Kondo's teachings to work! I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for reading, everyone! Let me know if you'd like me to do more detailed reviews of any of these products, and I hope you have a great day!
