Ipsy Glam Bag Review: February 2015

It's Ipsy time again! This month's love themed Glam Bag is obviously a reference to Valentine's Day, and even though I got my bag in the mail a little late this time, I feel like I'm celebrating with Cupid all over again. Except this time it's better, because makeup > boys, am I right? As always, if you haven't hopped on the Ipsy train yet and want some more information on this amazing monthly subscription service, then click here to read my first post that goes into much greater detail all about it! Read below to see what I received in this month's Ipsy Glam Bag

1. City Color Cosmetics Creamy Lip Stain in "Flirtini"

I'm happy to announce that I was very pleasantly surprised with this product. At first glance, I assumed that A. this was a gloss rather than a stain, B. the formula would be thick and sticky, and C. the color would be way too bright for what I wear on an average day. I was wrong about everything, though! For starters, this is a stain, which means that it's very light on the lips and doesn't transfer onto your teeth or whatever else your mouth may come into contact with. Second, the formula for this product is extremely lightweight, and not at all sticky. It has a very satiny feel to it, which I really love because it doesn't give me that "overly made up" feeling that I often have with lipsticks and heavy glosses (and it dries with a matte finish, which is a big plus in my book). Finally, the color payoff is perfect; it's not so light that you can't tell you have it on, but it certainly isn't heavy enough to make you feel like a clown. Overall, I'm very pleased with this and I can't wait to wear it this weekend!

2. China Glaze Nail Laqueur in "Marry a Millionaire"

While I love collecting nail polishes and receiving them in my Glam Bags, I regretfully have to admit that I'm not able to fully review this product at the moment because I currently have a gel manicure on my nails. However, I will say that I've used China Glaze products in the past, and I've been really impressed with how long lasting and chip resistant their polishes are. This polish is super glittery, with flecks of blue, purple, silver, and goldfish teal, and the fibers are in a variety of sizes which help give your nails a 3D effect afterwards. This would be such a fun polish for a night out, or just to add some sparkle to your day!

3. Mitchell & Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil

Ok, to be honest, face oil kind of terrifies me. As someone with notoriously oily skin, the thought of putting even more oil on my already greased up face almost makes me break out in hives. I've tried the Tarte Maracuja Oil before, and while the reviews for it say that you have to allow your skin to adjust to the oil, I just couldn't handle how horrible my breakouts were once I started using it. Needless to say, I was not so psyched to try this oil from Mitchell & Peach, but for the sake of writing an honest review, I bit the bullet and put the dreaded oil upon my face. Nothing crazy has happened so far, and I was less uncomfortable with using it because it smells really nice and natural, which makes me feel a little better about putting it on my skin. I'll report back to you guys if I suddenly turn into a lizard or something later.

4. ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder in "Peach Bellini"

This is the product I was most excited to try in this month's bag, and even though it's much smaller than I expected it to be, I'm still happy to have it! In addition to the adorable packaging (brush lettered fonts are a big deal right now, apparently), this blush is pretty awesome. It's extremely pigmented, so a little goes a long way, which makes me happy since the size I received is on the tiny side. I'm also a huge fan of the color, which is a satiny pinkish-coral shade with bits of golden highlight mixed in. I decided to wear it today, and while it's a bit more bold than I typically wear, it did a really nice job of warming up my complexion. I'm excited to wear this more once summer comes around, I think it'll be really gorgeous on tan skin!

5. Demeter Fragrance Library Roll On Perfume Oil in "First Love"

I'm horrible at describing scents, so here's what the product description for this perfume says:

First Love is an irresistible, unique and unusual light floral combination of lemon zest, jasmine, honeysuckle, water lotus and white rose.

Now that we know what it's supposed to smell like, I can tell you what I think it smells like, which is black licorice. Kind of. Maybe it's the lemon zest mixed with the honeysuckle and white rose, but hey, I honestly have no clue. Regardless, the more I smell this perfume, the more I like it. It's a simple, light, and florally scent, which is perfect for Spring, and I'm excited to add it to my collection!
